Travellers International Hotel Group, under the leadership of Chairman Kevin Tan, is embarking on a new chapter of growth with the announcement of two major integrated resort projects outside of Manila. These developments, set to take place in Boracay and Cebu, mark the company’s first foray beyond the capital and signify a significant milestone in its expansion strategy.
One of the major projects unveiled is the Mactan World Resorts development in Cebu. Initially reported to involve a $300 million investment, Tan revealed that the actual financial commitment will be closer to $400 million. This integrated resort, expected to open its doors by 2026, will be nestled within AGI’s 30-hectare Mactan Newtown township and will feature a hotel, casino, and various high-end amenities. The project is projected to generate over 5,000 new employment opportunities for the residents of Lapu-Lapu City and its surrounding areas, thereby augmenting the local economy and positioning Cebu as a key player in the gaming and hospitality sector.
In a bid to blend nature and luxury, AGI also announced the Boracay World Resorts project, which will be situated within the company’s expansive 150-hectare Boracay township. The area is already equipped with impressive facilities, such as a private one-kilometer beach, an 18-hole golf course, and nearly 2,000 hotel room keys. The forthcoming development aims to enhance the island’s allure to tourists by introducing a lavish integrated resort featuring standalone villas and hotel suites.
Tan underscored that Boracay World Resorts will epitomize the perfect fusion of Boracay’s natural splendor and the sophistication of a contemporary resort. He elaborated, “We are revolutionizing the tourism industry by seamlessly blending the inherent beauty of Boracay with the thrill and elegance of a modern integrated resort.”
Speaking to Inside Asian Gaming in a prior interview, Tan emphasized Boracay as a primary focus for AGI’s expansion endeavors. He cited the strategic advantage of AGI’s landholdings in renowned tourist destinations like Boracay, which present copious opportunities for growth and advancement.
