Digne-les-Bains, a charming town nestled in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, France, is gearing up to elevate its appeal to tourists and residents alike with the upcoming construction of a brand-new casino. Spearheaded by the esteemed Golden Palace Group, this ambitious project was unveiled to the municipal council on October 8. The anticipated Casino Golden Palace Digne-les-Bains is slated to open its doors by the close of 2026, offering a diverse mix of traditional and electronic gaming options, dining experiences, and entertainment opportunities in the area.
A major boon for the local economy, the introduction of the casino is forecasted to attract around 140,000 visitors yearly. From slot machines to card tables, a restaurant to an entertainment venue, the casino intends to establish itself as a vibrant focal point of activity in Digne-les-Bains. “It’s a very old project. Many mayors have tried to achieve it, so we are happy to implement this project,” declared Francis Khun, the first deputy mayor of Digne-les-Bains, in an interview with BFM DICI as reported by BFMTV.
Not only geared towards providing entertainment, the establishment is also set to stimulate economic growth in the region. With initial revenue estimates ranging between 7 to 8 million euros and projections exceeding 10 million euros over an 18-year operation period, the casino is projected to create 30 new jobs and substantial tax income for the municipality. “The casino’s turnover should be 7 million at the start and more than 10 million at the end of 18 years of operation… This should represent a million euros of revenue per year for the town of Digne-les-Bains,” Khun elaborated.
Massimo Menegalli, president of the Golden Palace Group, echoed these sentiments in a press release, expressing, “We believe in the notion of popular entertainment. We have designed this casino for the region, tourists, but especially for the inhabitants of Digne-les-Bains. Our conviction is that we can create recreational, respectful and responsible places that everyone can make their own.”
In terms of architectural design, the casino is being meticulously planned to seamlessly blend into Digne-les-Bains’ lush green surroundings, respecting the town’s ecological and urban equilibrium. This approach not only ensures a contemporary and inviting infrastructure but also aligns with the town’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
Emphasizing responsible gaming practices, the Golden Palace Group is committed to promoting safe and responsible gambling habits. The new casino will feature initiatives aimed at educating and safeguarding players, underscoring the Group’s enduring pledge to uphold ethical gaming standards.
